Ines Thomas Almeida was born in the Dominican Republic and grew up in Portugal as bilingual and with double nationality. She studied Piano at the Lisbon Gregorian Institut with Luiza Gama Santos. Then she studied Singing at the Évora University (Portugal) with Liliana Bizineche, where she won for two times the prize “Best Student of the University”.
Ines Thomas Almeida continued her Voice Studies in Germany at the Rostock School of Music and Drama with Klaus Häger (Berliner Staatsoper), where she graduated in 2007. Other important teachers were Christian de Bruyn, Prof. Karl-Heinz Zettl, Prof. Reinhard Schau, Markus Johannes Langer, KMD Prof Hartwig Eschenburg. As a member of the Opera Studio she performed on stage many different roles, like Orfeo in Glucks “Orfeo ed euridice”, Orsola in Wolf-Ferraris “Il Campiello” and Zia Principessa in Puccinis “Suor Angelica”. She was also soloist in many concerts and oratorios, like Bachs “Christmas Oratorio” and Haendels “Messiah”, among others.
She took part in many masterclasses, for example with Krisztina Laki, Jill Feldman, Gillah Yaron, Teresa Berganza, Hanna Schwarz and Norman Shetler.
In 2008 she made her professional Debut in Berlin as Mercedès (Carmen, Bizet). After that she was invited to perform at the Opera Festival Schloss Rheinsberg, where she performed in “Die Weisse Dame” from F. Boildieu, in “Der singende See” and as Carmen in the “Rheinsberger Sängernacht”.
One particular important point of her work is the song recital. Ines Thomas Almeida sings regularly in Portugal and in Germany in many recitals with different programs, among them the well acclaimed Spanish Night, which mirrors her accurate interpretation, strong presence on stage and her passionate temperament.
She has worked under the direction of Axel Köhler and Gernot Schulz, among others.
Ines Thomas Almeida is a winner of the International Singing Competition Schloss Rheinsberg 2008. She holds a grant from the “Yehudi Menuhin Live Music Now” – New Talents Foundation. |
